Back from the Wilderness

Yes, we survived another summer vacation camping in Colorado.  It was fine, but I am so happy to be back in my home state, though the heat is oppressive and the dryness devastating.  I left a day early to drive the truck with dirt bike to the lake  while DH flew the next day.  From there we drove 2 days to get to camp.  A week later we did everything in reverse - spent the night North of Amarillo with relatives, drove back to the lake, unloaded the trailer, jumped in the lake to cool off, enjoyed a great bed to sleep with perfect climate control in the house, DH flew home yesterday, I drove home  today. NaMa did go with us and she had to sleep in the tent 2 nights cause Cecil and Louise left with their camper after staying nearly a month up there.  We also had Nephew's family for 3 days before they went back home.  Then there were FIVE, after all those who had been there earlier left.  That is a small group for our camping group.  We had way too much food cause apparently we do not know how to cook for less than 20.  We really did miss our kids being there.  Alex P. is really entertaining.  He could have added some life to that group who tend to sit around and read all day and night.  We had a GREAT, Huge fire the last night and wished for Richie and Little Buddy to be there.  When we set up the tent,  I said we will put Beautiful Daughter's cot/bed up just like she is here and we were sad that she was not there.  The first year she went camping, she was 10 months old.  The  only years she has missed were disaster years - we had a wreck, she broke her leg at Cheerleading camp - until this year - she just had to WORK/no vacation.

So I survived another Colorado trip.  It is nice to be back to the modern conveniences of "HOME".

However, when DH got home yesterday, he found the FRIDGE had gone out while we were away and yes, it did STINK and was a MESS!  I was 300 miles away, so there was nothing he could do but clean it up.  The NEW FRIDGE will be delivered tomorrow.  So we have nothing but ice in an ice chest.  That is one way to clean out the old and start anew.  And yes, we had to go eat a little Mexican Food - the post vacation meal plans start tomorrow.

While we are watching some evening TV, the power went off.  DH fired up the generator - not to keep the refridgerator running but so we could continue to watch TV - just making sure we are ready for hurricane season.  Power was restored and we are enjoying all the modern convenieces.
It is good to be back.
